Probiotics
Probiotics are friendly bacteria that can multiply and colonise in the gut, and reduce the bacterial count by the production of anti-bacterial substances. It causes competitive exclusion of pathogens and thereby regulates gut ecology and improves digestion and absorption. It leads to better utilization of nutrients resulting in a better growth rate and higher milk production. Low milk production due to improper feed utilization was identified to be the main problem in the locality resulting in decreased milk production. Probiotic as part of the Good Feeding Strategy was intervened in the district to increase the milk production rate.
