Green Voyager- Cabbage for Rainy Season cultivation in the Rain shelter

Smt Preetha Jaya Prakash is a progressive women former who strongly believes in organic farming practices. KVK during 2017-18 KVK introduced the tropical hybrid cabbage ‘Green Voyager’ for monsoon season cultivation in rain shelters. Smt Preetha Jayaprakash planted 200 seedlings of the cabbage in her rain shelter having the size of 80sqm in July – August 2017 and started the plants on organic manures. He applied fermented cow dung- groundnut cake slurry at an interval of 15 days. His crop was very successful and obtained an average weight of 893g per head during the offseason. She sold her produce at an average rate of Rs 82 /kg and obtained Rs 13,180 from this small area in 80 days.
