The tissue culture laboratory established during June 2002 with the financial support from CARD, our host organization. Later the lab was expanded with the financial support from NHM and was inaugurated on 13th March 2009by Rt. Rev. Dr. Isaac Mar Philoxenos Episcopa, then Chairman of ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra.
AchievementsThe lab facility is been primarily used for training rural youth on tissue culture techniques, for carrying out biotechnological projects of MSc Biotechnology students from different parts of the country and for clonal multiplication of banana germplasm. With a view to expand the laboratory for meeting the large-scale requirement of quality planting material the laboratory was expanded, making the total plinth area as 163.24 sq m with Rs 8 lakh project support received from NHM. The rehabilitated lab structure includes media preparation area, sterilization room, media store, inoculation room, growth rooms, lab coat and scrub area, wash area, general store, training hall and Hardening Facility. The rehabilitated tissue culture lab was inaugurated on 13th march 2009 and became fully operational in the month of June 2009. were standardized in this lab.
