Ever since the inception of KVK in the Pathanamthitta district in 1995, KVK has been trying to explore the potential of underutilized fruits and Jackfruit, in particular, to provide subsidiary income to rural families through its Value addition. KVK owns an Agro-Processing Hub and Incubation Centre and is State Resource Centre for Jackfruit.
KVK promoted a Farmer Producer Organisation “Preeminent Farms Agro Farmer Producer Company Limited” during the year 2017. It intends to carry out the business of production, harvesting, procurement, processing, grading, pooling, handling, marketing, and selling, of agricultural produce and especially to bring Jackfruit growers under one umbrella for exploiting its potential in raw, matured and processed form.
The company now has 124 shareholders. In the last three year, the company could earn Rs3 lakhs, by selling various Jackfruit value-added products like Puttu podi, bakery products, Dehydrated products. Honey and Turmeric in the Preemins brand were also sold
